Be Their Hope at Iftar

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever feeds a fasting person will have a reward like theirs, without any reduction.”

This Ramadan, that reward carries even greater weight - because in Gaza, families are fasting through devastation, hunger, and unimaginable loss.

I’m Palestinian.

And for the last two years, watching what’s happening in Gaza has been extremely heavy. I regularly feel helpless and disempowered. I often get asked “What do you do to feel helpful and empowered?”

In 2024, with the help of family and friends, we launched a field kitchen in Rafah, Gaza. 

I own Cedars - a Palestinian restaurant built on feeding people with dignity. Cedars’ founder - my dad, Sudki Abdullah - was a displaced Palestinian refugee. His life mission was to feed as many human beings as possible while alive.

Using Cedars as our platform, we leveraged our team and our community to do something small but real: we helped open “Sudki’s Kitchen” in Gaza, named after my late father. Sudki’s Kitchen provides 2,500 meals every day to those in need. 

Ramadan 2026: The Goal

This Ramadan, we have set a goal of activating five field kitchens total. 

Through our partnership with International Aid Charity and our brothers and sisters on the ground at Pious Projects, we have raised $100,000 in the first 10 days of Ramadan to fund and activate 2 kitchens thus far. Families right now in Deir al Balah & Gaza City are gathering for iftar because of it. 

The Good News: this year, goods are getting into Gaza with more ease. Most importantly, protein is more plentiful, and our first 2 kitchens have been serving lamb & chicken everyday.
